IF THE OUTPUT OF A 100KVA, 415V GENERATOR IS STEPPED UP TO
11KV WITH A 500KVA TRANSFORMER,CAN THE TRANSFORMER BE
LOADED ABOVE THE SOURCE GENERATOR RATING?
Answer Posted / hareesh k.s.
No.
The source generator rating is 100X1000VA/415X1.73=133A
therefore the maximum load that can bear by the source of
power supply is 133A.
but the tranformer maximum output
current=500KVA/11KVX1.73=26A.
therfore the maximum load rating that can bear by the
trasformer is 26A.
ie.500KVA,11KV transformer can loaded upto only 26A.
but the maximum source KVA is 100KVA
therefore the maximum output load rating of
tranformer=100KVA/1.173X11KV=5.25A
so the conclusion is in this case the tranformer can be
loaded upto 5.25A(11KV).
