smoke testing/sanity testing/skim tsting /dry run testing:this is the type of testing where we take care of only basic or critica features.we are not go in deapth into any of the software module.here our aim is not to break the product.instead aim is to qualify wether the module given is testible or not..it mainly saves time and cost of the project.
adhok:Here our aim is to break the projet,this means to find the bugs by giving different senarios randomly which has not been mentioned in the Requirement.By thinking creatively test engg will go through the different cases.This makes the product more effective.

hi all I have an overall experience of 12 years working in an EDP setup(worked in a manufacturing setup in a German MNC). On my request, I was relieved from my duties in Sep 06 for maternity reasons. However I would like to pursue a career in a software organization as a manual tester. I obtained my proficiency certificate in Software Testing from STAG SOFTWARE LIMITED 2 months ago i.e in May and would now like to continue working in this field. Hello. I am not here to answer your question. I jus found a job as software QA engr. And i am totally new to software testing. So can someone pls help me in the following scenario? there is this registration screen, and it contain: One textbox called Nickname which only accept alphanumerical One textbox called Contact which only accept numerical, One textbox called Email which can be filled with alphanumerical and symbol and One button called Register now becos there is so many textboxes, where i can filled with alphabet, number, symbol, "just space", leading zeros, leading space. there will be lots of combination. can someone pls help.. i will be appreciated if u can post the test case of the scenario i mentioned.
