what is the difference between suction lift & suction head?
Answer Posted / arul - mz
Mr. Karthick is nearly right.... always :-)
However.... Please note the following defintions clearly..
Suction head is the difference b/w the waterlevel in the
tank and the centre of the impeller of the pump...
1) Either the tank can be located at lower elevation or at
higher elevetion than the level of the impeller...
If it's lower, then the suction is done by lift... So it's
called SUCTION lift.
In the case of suction lift... The head difference b/w the
last point of footvalve (under the suction pipe) & centre
of impeller is taken as the suction lift....
COOL :-)
