why the armature coil in dc machine is round??

i think that below answer may be the answer to my
question.i m not sure please answer me.
in dc machine we know that flux from north pole to south
pole asses through the armature coil.if the armature coil
has other shape than sphere then the flux linkig will not
be uniform throughout the surface,so the emf jeneration
will also nonuniform.again sphere aquires minimum area.
so we use spherical or round armature coil.
