What makes the difference between 50Hz supply and 60Hz
supply which one is economical? What is the use of using
increased frequency?
Answer Posted / c_elavarasi@yahoo.com
frequency is inversely propotional to the reactance,so if
the frequency increases, reactance decreases thereby current
gets increased.so if the resistance is constant, voltage
increases so that the windings cant be able to withstand
the increased voltage and also if the current increases
I^2R losses will increase.

could an induction motor be used for regenerative braking in electric-train control? in this type of application would some scheme have to be devised to obtain low synchronous speeds while braking? would induction-motor drive, therefore, be suitable for passenger service?

Can u explain : what is supply for train (whether a,c or d.c ).I know that supply is 25000v a.c .But there is rumour that supply is D.C. And also explain how lights and fans inside the trains are working ,and what type of motors are used in trains whether D.C motors or induction motors .If d.c motor, how it gets supply. If traction motors are used then what are traction motors and its functions and how it differs from other motors and also explain about locomotive . y d.c series motor in train.train wheels r driven by D.C shunt motor ,at what voltage, and at what speed. please reply..............

What is the need of earthing transformer for delta side of a transformer. (Think of a line section between a star/delta transformer at a grid substation and delta/star transformer at a village. An earthing transformer is there at the delta side of the star/delta transformer at grid substation). As there are no ground reference there will not be fault current if a one phase is grounded. Further L-L phase will be sensed by the primary side of star/delta transformer as a L-G fault. So why an earthing transformer is required at delta side
Why in metering Ct for ammeters ct secondary side is grounded for each Ct but not in case of CBCT (Core balance current transformer)..kindly some1 highlights the reason..is it because net flux is zero?
