The gene for tallness (T) is dominant over the gene for
shortness (t) in pea plants. A homozygous dominant pea
plant is crossed with a heterozygous pea plant, and 200
seeds are produced. Approximately how many of these seeds
can be expected to produce plants that are homozygous
dominant?
Answer Posted / vishal agrawal
when a homozygous tall (TT) is crossed with heterozygous
tall (Tt) they will segregate in ratio of 1:1. Thus there
would be nearly 100 seeds of each type. thus the no. of
seeds for homozygous dominant would be 100.
Homozygous Tall (TT) x Heterozygous Tall (Tt)

In mice colored coat is dominant to albinism. Sniffles, a male mouse with a colored coat is mated to Esmeralda, an alluring albino. The resulting litter of six young all had colored fur. The next time around Esmeralda was mated with Whiskers, who was the same color as Sniffles; some of this litter were white. a)What are the probable genotypes of Sniffles, Esmeralda, and Whiskers? b) If a male of the 1st litterwas mated to a colored female of the 2nd litter, what phenotypic ratio might be expected among the offspring? c)What would be the expected results if a male of the 1st litter was mated to an albino from the 2nd?

Cystic fibrosis (CF) occurs with a frequency of about 1/2500 Caucasian newborns and is inherited as an autosomal recessive. A woman had an older sister die from complications of this disease. The village of Oblong has 400 normally-shaped residents. Transferrin is an iron carrier found in blood, and electrophoretic variation of this protein is determined by an autosomal codominant system. The citizens of Oblong were typed for their transferrin complements. The distribution of transferrin phenotypes was: 100 CC, 100 CD, and 200 DD. What is the frequency of the C allele?
