can you give main difference between ELCB And RCCB?

The term ELCB stands for Earth Leakage Circuit breaker .whenever the leakage current from any live part to ground exceeds a particular value, then the trip coil of ELCB operate for further disconnection of the live part. Generally the trip coil of ELCB is connected in between the non- conducting part of any equipment (Insulation part) and ground. The current setting of a ELCB is in the range of 65mA, 30mSec & must be connected for those loads whose rating exceeds 5KW.
The term RCCB stands for Residual Current Circuit Breaker. The connection of RCCB is always followed by CBCT(Core Balance Current Transformer) .this is because the residual current is sensed by only CBCT.For a 3-phase system, under balanced condition, sum of current at all the phase is zero.i.e. Ia +Ib+Ic =0.but when in any phase comes in contact with earth, then the three phase system is no longer in balance.i.e. Ia+Ib+Ic ≠0(or equal to residual current).this current is sensed by CBCT Secondary & when it exceeds the set value, then is operate & remove that faulty part.
