what is the function of buchhos rely in transformer
Answer Posted / ilononurb
Buchholz is a gas actuated relay which response if there is
any abnormality inside the transformer. Ex. If there a
incipient fault happens in transformer winding. arc causes
decomposition of oil that contains more hydrogen gas which
being light rise upward to bocholz relay. The gas is
collected to upper side of the relay. therby oil level drop
down in the B-relay that tilt the mercury switch that close
the alarm circuit.B-relay gives an alarm so that the
transformer can be disconected before the incipient fault
grows in to serious one.
