what is the effect if we add capacitor on DG supply, it has

Alternators are normally designed at 0.8 pf lag.It is not
advisable to run DG with capacitor banks switched ON.But as
you approach to maximum loading the winding temp.may
increase leading to tripping if cooling of alternator is
not efficient.In such a case you can put ON a few capacitor
banks & monitor the pf.Maintain pf somewhere between 0.85
to 0.90 lag.Result is the current drops and so is the
alternator temperature.This we have practically done with
our DGs.
