difference between neutral ground and phase

Answer Posted / parthibanselvaraj

Phase is the wire that carries electrical current from
mains to the appliance via the switch.

neutral is the wire that completes the electrical circuit
from the switch back to the mains.

Ground is the wire that will act as a short circuit from
the body of the instrument to the earth ground.

now if the switch is open the current path can not be
completed and hence the appliance does not work.

the moment switch is pressed the path is completed and so
the appliance works properly. If some one touches the body
normally there should not be any problem.

If mains supply leaks to the body of the appliance it needs
to be immediately and automatically sent to the ground
bypassing the human load which may come into contact .
Earth line serves exactly this purpose. So if you touch you
will get very small leakage current through your body
because the entire current goes through ground wire. you
are safe.
