can we load Power capicitors on DG sets?
Answer Posted / jigar shah
Capacitor requirement arises to effective utilization of
the generated power (to reduce the losses mainly-cu losses
& line losses) & all switchgear component. In general
practice Capacitors are not connected on DG Set.As per my
understanding following are the main reasons for which it
is not recommendation to run capacitors on DG set :
1. During no load condition capacitor will try to increase
the voltage level of genrated voltage which can damage the
insulation of wdg & wdg may get burnt
2. With increase in PF we will not ge much advantage as the
cable losses are negligle.Load is in nearest proximity of
the Equipment.
3. Capacitors can be installed at load side
