why we use stones or rock pieces in transformer area?

Answer

Crushed stone is a highly resistive material and this is
used in substations to protect the operating personal from
touch potential and step potential which may be very
dangerous in case of an electrical fault in the substation.
And the other reasons are it will not allow water
stagnation on top layer, and is not slippery.
