what is work of application layer and presentation layer..

Answer / vikas ghare

application layer
The Application Layer is the seventh layer in the 7 layer
Open System Interconnection (OSI) model and essentially
deals with network processes to applications.

The Application Layer is the closest OSI layer to the end
user; this means that the Application Layer and the end
user both interact directly with the software application.
The Application Layer interacts with the software
applications which implement a communicating component.

The Application Layer's functions typically include
determining resource availability, identifying
communication partners and synchronizing communication.
Examples of Application Layer implementations include
Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), File Transfer Protocol
(FTP), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and Telnet.

what is work of application layer and presentation layer..

Answer / rambabu

application layer provides interaction for user with his
application. this provides flexibility for end user...
application layer gets this flexibility from presentation
layer. because presentation layer takes care of data
formating(i.e encoding, decoding).
presentation layer takes care of platform. i.e. it
translates from one system understandable format to other
machine format.
ex:
sender m/c is vt windows and receiver is Linux user then
understandability care b/n that 2 m/c's is taken by
presentation layer.
