a domain can be a child of another domain (e.g.,
child.domain.com is a child of domain.com). A child domain
name always includes the complete parent domain name. A
child domain and its parent share a two-way transitive
trust.

A domain tree exists when one domain is the child of
another domain. For example, in the domain name
rover.cars.com, "rover" is a subdomain of the larger second-
level domain "cars.com." Child Domains have their Own
admins but also administered by the parent domains admins.

An Additional Domain Server is a 2nd Domain server or
controller with in an Active Directory Domain which holds a
replica of the Active Directory objects and communicates
with the other domain controllers when changes are made to
the AD structure or objects

Logical diagram contain -
Forest
Tree
Domain
Organizational unit

difference between Child domain controlloer and Additional
domain controller is that.
Child domain always share the contignious name space of the
parent domain.
child domain is always created under the parent domain only
we create child domain only when there is something
limitations of creating objects in the parent domain.
or when you want to create separate policy for the entire
domain in that case we go with child domain.

Additional domain controller is the exact copy of the root
domain controller we generally create ADC for fault
tolerance purpose.

Answer / vijay anand

Additional DOmain server (ADC) :

Holds the exact copy of DC ( domain controller ) by
replication process. If DC goes down automatically ADC
takes control.

child domain only for load balancing. reduces the load of
DC by managing the domain locally.

however DC has full control over all the child
domain .....member server and ADC ...........
