The name Java is not an acronym. The Development Team of
Java has just chosen this name. The name Java specifically
doesn't have any meaning rather it refers to the hot,
aromatic drink COFFEE.

Actually, the first name that is kept to it is OAK but as it
is already registered by another company they changed the
name to JAVA, a particular blond of coffee and there is no
special reason for this

while developing java James Gosling and his javasoft team
thought of putting a name to this language..
James Gosling believed that they have developed java
consuming much of coffee and they thought coffee has also
took part in developing and hence they put the name java for
this new language..
java literally means coffee

in the middle of 1991-92, initially they named that language as "OAK", they went to register office to register the name as "OAK" , but they were unable to register this programming language with name OAK , because of already some other product
is registered with same name, one day they went to a coffe shop and thinking about the rename of "OAK" ...finally the hot, aromatic drink COFFEE called as "JAVA" and there is no aberivation it was happend in 1995

actually first they wanted to keep name of OAK but it was
registered by another company,so then while they are
discussing about what name to give to this language, then
one servant came and served coffee to all. that coffee was
very nice then they asked coffee is very nice then servant
told it is made with "java" beans then they thought to give
the name as Java

During Brainstroming meeting of SunMicroSystems one of the
group members named Frank yellin decided to put the
name "java" coz he wanted to get precisely the right name
and he wanted something that reflected the essence of the
technology: dynamic, revolutionary, lively, fun. Because
this programming language was so unique.
