This question depends upon the organization size and the
company . in my personal experience which is a small
client , i was directly interacting with the client.They
will provide you a detailed documentation in which they
will specify their requirements.once that work is completed
by you,thru shared network they kept tracking my reports in
which i was updating them on a regular basis. but it varies
from each project , it depends upon the client of what
system they follow.

Just simply say like i will get the requirements through documents and by call... these are discussed in meetings..
we never send reports to client. we just develop reports and that will save in folder admin will schedule that reports. that will execute automatically...
if client is on site by docs, video calls, telephonic...
