1.The OSI model originally distinguishes between
service,interval and protocols.
1.The TCP/IP model doesnt clearly distinguish between
service,interval and protocol.
2.The OSI model is a reference model.
2.The TCP/IP model is an implementation of the OSI model.
3.In OSI model, the protocols came after the model was described.
3.In TCP/TP model,the protocols came first,and the model was
really just a description of the existing protocols.
4.In OSI model, the protocols are better hidden.
4.In TCP/IP model ,the protocols are not hidden.
5.The OSI model has 7 layers.
5.The TCP/IP model has only 4 layers.
6.The OSI model supports both connectionless and
connection-oriented communication in the network layer, but
only connection -oriented communication in transport layer.
6.The TCP/IP model supports both connectionless and
connection-oriented communication in the transport
layer.,giving users the choice.
7.Reliable data transfer.
7.Unsure/unreliable data transfer.
8.OSI was not implimented.
8.TCP/IP was implimented.
9.In OSI Model, the protocol are better hidden.
9.In TCP/IP Model the protocol are not better hidden.
10.OSI is also called called Horizontal Approach.
10.TCP/IP is also called called Vertical Approach.

HI I M PUSHPESH KR. VERMA ...........
THE BASIC DIFFERENCE B/W TCP/IP AND OSI MODEL IS THAT THE
TCP/IP MODEL DID NOT ORIGIANLLY CLEARLY DISTINGUISH BETWEEN
SERVICE, INTERFACE AND PROTOCOL, ALTHOUGH PEOPLE HAVE TRIED
TO RETROFIT IT AFTER THE FACT TO MAKE IT MORE OSI-LIKE.
THE SECOND ONE IS TCP/IP IS A PROTOCOL WHILE OSI IS A SET
MODEL.
THANKS..............

OSI Model is there to explain about network in more easy
way out to those people who are new to network/networking.
In OSI model network is explained in a manner to get whole
picture of network to understand it in a rough manner but
clearly.
7 layers, devices working in each layer, etc.
TCP/IP suite is for more deep study of network
working, means what rules are getting followed in network by
each and every devices, as explained by Protocols at each
layer.
4-5 layers(depends, many times datalink and physical layers
are shown separatly), layers are explained here with the
help of Protocols(set of some rules to follow).
