QA Engineer is a Role, QA lead is a role, responsibilities will be assigned to each role depending on the company's QA standards adopted or implemented, Such as ISO standardization defined responsibilities for each of role, If any company is following either ISO, CMM process models according to the adaptation it will define each role's responsibilities, bound to time period as say 6 months or a year using performance metrics set, achieved in each role and responsivities carried out throughout the work duration.
