Scalability
• Load balances requests for individual TCP/IP
services across the cluster.
• Supports up to 32 computers in a single cluster.
• Load balances multiple server requests, from either
the same client, or from several clients, across multiple
hosts in the cluster.
• Fully pipe-lined implementation ensures high
performance and low overhead
High Availability
• Automatically detects and recovers from a failed or
offline computer.
• Automatically balances the network load when hosts
are added or removed.

A single computer running Windows can provide a limited
level of server reliability and scalable
performance. However, by combining the resources of two or
more computers running one of the products
in the Windows Server 2003 family into a single cluster,
Network Load Balancing can deliver the
reliability and performance that Web servers and other
mission-critical servers need.

In a high availability solution where traffic is high.and it also works as a measure of fault tolerance. Like if any Server is going bad then one more will be there to back it up.and if anyone is willing to utilize their network traffic intelligently then they should use Radware Load Balancer or Radware Application Director. It will balance the traffic intelligently between two Servers. Mail servers( exchange front end servers) and webservers should be configured in this way
