three years ago the average age of a family of 5 members is
17 years. a baby having been born the average age of the
family is the same today. the present age of the baby is?

3 years ago, average age = 17
After 3 years, avg age= 17+3= 20
Excluding the baby:
Total members = 5
Total age = 5 × 20= 100(present age)
Including the baby:
Total age = 6×17= 102
Present age of baby: 102-100 = 2 yrs

the avg=20/5 =4
so the baby age is =4
