The first state formed on linguistic basis is Odisha, though that time it became known as Orissa province because in this name administrative region were known as before independence.It was formed on 1936 due demand and struggle of Oriya people who wanted separate state from Hindi-speaking Bihar region.Andhra Pradesh formed after independence.
