What is the ayurvedic viewpoint of structure and functions of body?
Answer / Asghar Ali Khan
In Ayurveda, the human body is composed of five basic elements: earth (Prithvi), water (Jal), fire (Agni), air (Vayu), and ether or space (Akash). These elements combine to form three energies or doshas – Vata (air and ether), Pitta (fire and water), and Kapha (earth and water). Each tissue, organ, and physiological function is associated with one or more of these doshas. Health is maintained when there is a balance among the doshas, while disease arises due to their imbalance.
