Alum:-By the term alum we generally mean potash alum. It is a double salt of trivalent aluminium sulphate and monovalent Potassium sulphate with 24 molecules of water. Hence the formula Al2 (S04)3 K2SO4. 24H2O. It is soluble in water and used as germicide.
