Give me a broad concept of what a data warehouse is, and what it might be used for?..

Answer / phani kumar

Any organization keeps track of data and the current data
is only relevant to the OLTP means Online transaction
processing.
Suppose a company maintains sales data of different areas
for a particular product and it wants to know, whether a
particular area is having good sales or not.
For this it has to work on the past data for the sales made
at a particular area.
For making strategic decisions at a higher management level,
analysis needs to be made not on the historical data, which
is being maintained in the datawarehouse.
