Yes it will work.Its least bothered of pc/os it may be any
os.what it needs is MAC address of pcs.swithch is a
inteligent device which keeps ur pcs in one network to
communicate each other.

here switches deals with mac-address and router deals with ip address in every ware some stranded is there like iso-osi

Yes,If the uplink connection is Router then one can connect
to any system be it XP or Unix or MAC any OS be it Windows
or MAC by configuring IP address.
