ping is a windows network command. it's mainly used to check
that a desired system was connected to this system or not.
for Ex:
in a LAN network if u wish to check ur colleague system was
connected to ur system or not by typing their ip
ex:windows key+r
type: cmd
ping 192.168.0.1
Pinging 192.168.0.1 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1:

and also u can check ur system was connected to the internet
or not
ex:
ping www.google.com
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
if u got the connection u will get reply like the above
