What is the rating of your capacitor bank at your company.
Answer Posted / sharma jiten
The most common method for improving power factor is to add
capacitors banks to the system. Capacitors are attractive
because they're economical and easy to maintain. Not only
that, they have no moving parts, unlike some other devices
used for the same purpose.
When you add a capacitor bank to your system, the capacitor
supplies the reactive power needed by the load. If you size
and select the capacitor bank to compensate to a unity
power factor, it can supply all the reactive power needed
by the load, and no reactive power is demanded from the
utility. If you design the capacitor bank to improve the
power factor to a quantity less than 1.0, the reactive
power supplied by the bank will be its rated kVARs (or
MVARs), while the rest of the reactive power needed by the
load will be supplied by the utility.

I don't understand why when we connect high voltage source in DC to electronic motor , we must add capacitor and resistor in parallel ? (I know that we use capacitor because we want to absorb the current that in the first second electronic motor in opposed with current course produce. ) what are the feature of Resistor and in such situation ?

HELLO EVERYONE, I RECENTLY HAVE FOUND ONE PROBLEM, I WAS TAKING NO LOAD TRIAL OF AN HT MOTOR 920 MOTOR , 1440 RPM , 6.6 KV, WITH AUTO TRANSFORMER. AT 450 V, LOAD WAS 40 AMP AND SPEED WAS 250 RPM. BUT AS WE INCREASE VOLTAGE FROM 450 TO 480V, LOAD BECOME 41 AND SPEED REDUCED TO SOME RPM . SO WHICH PHENOMENON ACTED HERE FOR REDUCING SPEED.?? AND IS IT HAPPENING ALWAYS OR IT IS RARE? I ALSO HAVE FACED SUCH PROBLEM WITH FEW LT MOTOR ALSO.
