"Anaphylaxis is a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction that involves the rapid release of inflammatory mediators from basophils and mast cells. Activation of these cells results in the degranulation of histamine, leukotrienes, and other substances, which cause symptoms such as hives, swelling, itching, and bronchoconstriction.".
