POP (Post Office Protocol) and IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) are email protocols used to retrieve emails from a mail server. In Outlook, POP downloads emails and deletes them from the server by default. On the other hand, IMAP leaves the emails on the server and syncs only the headers locally.
