In the data mining world, discrete data refers to categorical variables that can take on specific distinct values within a finite set. Examples include gender (Male or Female), color (Red, Blue, Green), or education level (High School, Bachelor's, Master's). On the other hand, continuous data represents numerical variables that can take on any value within a given range. Examples include age, temperature, and height.
