Difference between stopping and terminating the instances?

"Stopping an instance suspends its operation but retains all of its data, including the operating system, applications, and any other files on the instance. Terminating an instance permanently deletes the instance and all of its associated data. Stopped instances can be restarted, while terminated instances must be recreated."
