Both HBase and Cassandra are NoSQL databases, but they have some differences. HBase is built on top of Hadoop and HDFS, making it more suitable for handling large amounts of unstructured data with real-time read/write access. Cassandra, on the other hand, is designed for high availability and scalability, with a masterless architecture and peer-to-peer replication.
