IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a protocol used by email clients to retrieve and manage emails from a mail server. Unlike POP3, which downloads emails to the client and deletes them from the server, IMAP keeps a copy of messages on both the server and the client, allowing synchronization across multiple devices.
