What do you know about Ozone layer and its significance?
Answer Posted / Rajeev Ranjan
The ozone layer is a region of Earth's stratosphere that contains relatively high amounts of ozone. It protects the planet from the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The depletion of the ozone layer, primarily due to chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), has been a significant concern since it can lead to increased rates of skin cancer, cataracts, and damage to crops, among other issues. The Montreal Protocol, an international treaty, was created to phase out the production of ozone-depleting substances.
