The main hdfs-site.xml properties include: dfs.namenode.name.dir (directory where the NameNode stores its data), dfs.datanode.data.dir (directory where DataNodes store their data), dfs.replication (default replication level for newly created files), dfs.blocksize (the size of a block in bytes), and dfs.namenode.secondary.http-address (HTTP address of the Secondary NameNode).
