Reactor is a very high inductive coil which has approx zero power losses and high reactance. Which generally used with EHV transmission lines.
Application–
1. Reactor is used to minimise the faulty current of transmission line.
2. Reactor is used to compensate the ferranti effect and capacitive effects.
3. Reactors used for connecting two lines. I.e. as a tie line connector.
