For DG or Transformer body earthing, is it necessary to terminate the earth bus to earth pit directly? If not terminated to earth pit directly in earth pit and connected to any common bus strip which ultimately connects to earth pit, what will be the pros and cons?

May be the answer i guess is if not terminated directly to earth pit, in abnormal cases the leakage current will find 2 paths to flow one will be to earth pit and other will be to any other structure/equipment connected to common strip because not terminating in earth pit ensures to form a junction with common earth bus. And hence tending to provide 2 pathways for discharging itself.
