The term Viceroy was the replacement of the post of governor general in India.
The term Viceroy came in India just after the first war of independence ie. Sepoy mutiny of 1857 at the first commencing point of British Raj governor general was a term used before British Raj and viceroy was a term used just after British Raj hahahhahah
