As a Thumb rule : Residential :-1)for G+7 structure - 3.00 to 3.50Kg/sft
2) For tower more than 7flrs. to 20 flrs. - 5.00 to 6.00 Kg/Sft
3) For tower more than 20flrs. to 50 flrs - 7.00 to 8.00 Kg/sft
Commercial - Ranging from 6.00 to 8.00 Kg/sft

As we know that steel is a tension member but why we are using STRUCTURE STEEL as a COLUMN (Without concrete) where column is a compression member and compression strength of steel is very low
if we know load bearing capacity of the soil and building load falling in each footing, then how to choose the type of foundation??? and if it is shallow foundation then which type of shallow foundation should be choosen i.e either strip or isolated or raft or combined or cantilever footing???????
