Why the tank of transformer is made rectangular not circular??
Answer Posted / gouttam kumar
The transformers are rectangular because of the way the magnetic core is built.
To reduce the magnetic losses in the magnetic core this has to be made of multiple sheets of metal stacked together. All the sheets are cut with the same dye and are stacked in packs.
To make circular core out of sheets of metal is costly and with no real gains.
