1 liter emulsion paint covered how much area?

Answer Posted / mohana rao

How much area, in square meters, will one liter of paint cover if it is brushed out to uniform thickness of 100 microns?
1 litre of paint = 1000 Cubic Centimetre (CC)
Volume = area * thickness
1 liter = 1000 cc (cubic centimeters) = 1000000 cubic mms
1 Micron = 1/1000 mm
100 microns = 0.1 mm
Area = 1000000/0.1
Area = 10000000 sq mms
Area = 10 sq meters

Also in British Units
2.54cm = 1 inc
1 metre = 100 cms
1metre =100/2.54 = 39.37 inch
Also 1 square metre = 1m x 1m = 39.37 inc X 39.37inc = 1549.9969 sq inch
12 inch = 1 foot
1 sq feet = 12 inc X 12 inc = 144 sq ft
1 sq metre = 1549.9969 sq inch = 1549.9969 / 144 = 10.76 sq ft

So 1 litre of paint can cover an area = 10 sq meters =10 x metre x metre
= 10 x 10.76 sq ft = 107.6 sq ft

Finally one litre of paint can spread with a brush with 100 micro thickness
either 10 sq metre or 107 sq feet

Practically take it @ 90% calculation value because of various factors

In an aggregate blending plant, water is sprayed before blending is performed. If the fine content in aggregate is as high as 25 %, will not the fines form into lumps / balls and distribution will not be uniform ? Further, the fines will stick onto the interior of pug mill and its content will be low. The mixed material is stockpiled for weeks / months before use. Will it not be better that blending is done in dry condition, and water will be added only during compaction at site. Please forward your comments and suggestions.
