what is the difference between series and shunt compensation
using facts in a transmission line

Answer Posted / monali bhise

Shunt compensation improves power factor of load whereas series compensation has very little effect on load power factor. For a long transmission line where total reactance is large, series capacitors are more effective for improvement of stability.
