explain the existence of reactive power in electrical engg?when it
generates?
Answer Posted / ashhad khan
reactive power is like heart for AC electricity without reactive power fans, motors cannot work .because until reactive power is generated in windings
energy cannot transfer from electrical energy to wind energy (in case of fans)
or generally in form of motion. one can think it as we switch on the fan before fan rotates reactive power is setup in the windings which will form magnetic effect which at-last force the rotor to move. so without reactive power all this is impossible. while in case of dc supply no such reactive power is required because in dc there is no such angle between current and voltage and whenever voltage is setup current will be in phase with voltage.
reactive power is generated whenever ac voltage is setup accross an inductance .moreover its not generated, its a part of power only as V*I*sin(theta).
