strap beam :- In cantilever foundation design two separate footings are interconnected by a reinforced concrete beam that is very stiff AND IS NOT SUPPORTED BY THE UNDERLYING SOIL! The purpose of the design is to force the soil reaction to be concentrated at a specific point.
tie beam :- Building) a horizontal beam that serves to prevent two other structural members from separating, esp one that connects two corresponding rafters in a roof or roof truss
Ground beam :- In a framed structure, the sill which is nearest the ground or on the ground; used to distribute concentrated loads.
