Water in soil is present as gravitational water (GW) that percolates under gravity to become part of water table, chemical water (ChW) as solution, hygroscopic water (HW) imbibed in soil, water vapour (WV) and capillary water (CW). These all forms together constitute hollard. Chresard is 75% of capilarry water, i.e. water actually available to plants for growth. Echard is remaining water, i.e., GW+ChW+HW+WV+25%CW.
