Why metal nanoparticles are characterized through FTIR? as Ftir only used for organic compounds?

FTIR is one of the primary characterization technique for functional group associated or present in the sample. In the case of nanoparticle, it is used for the functional group identification of the capping material associated with the nanoparticle.
