In pakistan appliances work on 220v at 50hz and in us appliances work on 110v at 60hz what is basic theory to explain it
Answer Posted / vikram singh
its not that technical theory..its just wot u chosen that time..like..in the begining..when power generated..at dat time..there were lack of resources and not that effective module as well..the desired freq. was considered 50-60 as transmission losses and noise and some other factors kept in mind.arc lamps were trending that time..and they woked well at 60 because lamps flicks at lower freq. so they started using 110v-60hz..and europe too..but after that 230v-50hz power also considered good..so after 2nd world war.as europe lost everything..so they just have to start with new equipments..so they chosen 230v-50hz & also india as england was ruling..and all setup was chosen by them..and so almost whole europe and asia..australia chosen this..and we cant change it now as we we have to change all equipments and that costs very high..so its goin on.. hope this helped u :)
