If 12 men and 16 boys can do a piece of work in 5 days and,13 men and 24 boys can do it in 4 days, how long will 7 men and 10 boys take to do it,

Answer Posted / pradyumna171

according to questions 12men =16boys # 5 ......eq(1) and 13men + 16boys # 4days .........eq(2) from equation 1 we get60men + 80boys # 1 days......eq(3) and from equation 2 we get 52men + 96 boys # 1day......eq(4) from equation 3 & 4 we can calculate that when 8 men reduced there is extra 16 boys required to finish the same job in same time, therefore efficiency of 1 man + 2 boys. putting this efficiency in equation 3 we get 60 men + 40 men (=80boys) # 1 day or 100men # 1day or 1man can do work 1/100 parts of job per day. and 1 boy can do work 1/200 parts 0f job per day. therefore 7men+10boys can do work 7/100+10/200=24/200 parts of job per day and to finish they need 200/24 days that is 8.3 days
