what is solvent and what is the use of it in organic
synthesis.how you select a solvent for a particular
reaction.

Answer Posted / naveen gutta

Most of the organic reaction can be performed in liquid state only for this purpose we've to dissolve the our reactants in suitable solvent(It may or may not involve in the reaction).Even some reagents requires specific solvents to carry out their function (Ex: LDA requires THF at -76°C).The selection solvent will depend on the reaction and reaction condition which we are going to perform and the solvents can be recovered back through distilation or some other techniques.
