what is the difference between grounding and earthing......how can we differentiate each other.....
Answer Posted / dhruv saith
Grounding is done for the purpose of providing a reference potential.
Earthing is done to those parts of an electrical circuit/device where the current is not needed to flow, so that even in a case where the circuit or device misbehaves ( like if there is the short circuit etc.), then the user doesn't get an electrical shock! For example : The outer metal body of an iron (used for pressing clothes) is earthed, so that the user doesn't get a shock, even if there is a short circuit etc.
